Gettin’ Vocal About Vokle

Friday, July 8th, 2011

As I wrap up my fourth week working here at Vokle I have made a couple realizations. The first is that Vokle is built upon synergy and fueled by passion; fostering relevant, sustainable relationships between broadcasters and their audiences. In an industry of black and white, suits and ties, 9am to 5pm, Vokle delivers a colorful business culture of intimacy and creativity.

The second is that Vokle has a lot of growing to do. However I have no doubt that as it goes through its growing pains, Vokle will not lose sight of the values that lend to its tight-knit community of users and its supportive, personable crew.

So, in honor of my love for both Vokle and infographics, here is a little visual digression designed by yours truly :)

Top Youtubers come together @ Playlist.Live

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

On March 26-27th, YouTubers across the country united in Orlando for Playlist Live. Many Youtube Partners, including Freddie Wong, SwiftKarateChop and Mike Lombardo swung by the VOKLE booth and partook in nerf-gun knock-outs of Ustream (Uncool and Unoriginal VOKLE competitor).

Watch the Youtubers take down their target, plus a couple other playful Playlist moments:

UnBEARably Great Slogan Winner!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Hey folks!

The time is upon us to finally announce the VOKLE slogan contest winner! There were tons of clever and inspired submissions, but the winner of the highly-coveted Build-a-Bear is Cameron Kashani (a.k.a “camsy”), for her simple slogan that speaks volumes: “Unmute yourself”

Huge congrats to Cameron for coming up with a fantastic slogan, you’ll be receiving a customized Build-A-Bear created by our very own @Jacquiengineer!

In her own words, Jacquie promises to deliver a …BUILD-A-BEAR MODELED AFTER OUR ILLUSTRIOUS WINNER… She noted: …Since we’re fresh out of teddy bears up in hurr, I’ll most likely have to fetch my supplies by climbing up into one of those skankoid stuffed animal machines with the mechanical claws, presumably leaving tens and tens of sobbing toddlers in my wake when they see that I’ve pilfered the most bad ass toys in the history of the universe…

There were many great slogans, and here are some that deserve an honorable mention.

Ed Baker: “Social video, social internet.”

Julia Taylor: “Break the silence.”

Kelly: “This is what Al Gore had in mind when he invented the internet.”

We have something special for everyone who participated in the contest, stay tuned next week for details!

Wait 'til you see the pictures after he woke up...

Hi folks, my name is Rochelle and I’m giving a quick introduction since I’ll be a new contributor to the VOKLE Blog. I’ve just returned to the USA after a 14-month stint in Asia, where I taught English to crazy Thai children and pet tigers (yeah, that picture is real). That wild year aside, I have a fairly ordinary background.

Back in college I made the somewhat questionable decision to major in English, because I loved words yet didn’t understand the meaning of the term “employable.” I worked on my school newspaper for several years, and I decided that my career would in some way involve gathering and sharing information.

I’m at VOKLE now because I believe in the power of limitless expression through online media. In a classroom, a teacher can impart knowledge on a smaller, more personal scale. Through a newspaper, a reporter can articulate community concerns on print. With Vokle there’s no classroom, no paper, no limitations except your imagination. So here goes…

Slogan contest is officially over—ruff!

Friday, January 28th, 2011

After a great two-week run of getting submissions for the slogan contest, it’s finally that time to end it! I wanted to thank everyone who contributed, tons of awesome slogans to pick from. By next week we’ll have chosen a winner that gets a custom build-a-bear mailed to your home, along with some other goodies. I know we can only have one ‘winner’, an since it’ll be really tough for us, we’ve thought of a great way to feature everyone’s slogan in a fun way. You’ll be able to see it next week in all its glory.

Will keep you guys updated, super excited!! :)

Come up with YOUR own VOKLE slogan!

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Hey guys, and of course, gals,

Starting today, we’re holding our first ever VOKLE contest with..*gasp*..real prizes! The goal is to come up with a great slogan of what VOKLE is that’s simple and concise, and we’ll display it on the site. Simply comment in this blog post and you’ll win fun prizes like..

  • A customized build-a-bear!

Here are some quick examples I came up with to get your juices flowing. (Btw, don’t steal them. We have copies *gets paranoid*)…Aaaaannndddddddd….GO!

VOKLE “Where creators connect”

VOKLE “Where the audience is the celebrity”

VOKLE “You’re live, internet!”

VOKLE “Official mascot of wikileaks”

VOKLE “Why is your screen black?”

VOKLE “Now with 99.99903% less censorship”

VOKLE “We’re the only ones who love you. Honest, Dustin”

Disclaimer. We hold the right to change our minds and dump the winning slogan whenever we want (even after the prize is given)…because we’re bipolar like that.

Be sure to send in your submissions before the 28th of January.

Happy brainstorming! :D

Recording feature is ready to be tested!

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

So you might be asking yourself ‘where’s the Recording feature already?’. Good question, sir/madam! We’ve been heads down for the last couple months gathering information and chipping away at it to make it just right. If you’ve been wondering what’s been going on in VOKLEland, it’s been exactly that. It’s finally reached the stage where you guys can play around with it and give us some feedback. Mind you, it doesnt look the prettiest, but that’s something we can finess when we officially launch the feature.

ATTENTION: If you’ve been Hosting shows regularly (Dane, Ryan, Sudie, etc.), send me a quick email for the invite (shant@vokle.com) and respond to this blog post with your thoughts!

Here’s to some very exciting times coming up! :)
